The Amy Lynch Investigations Podcast – Episode 6

Episode #6 of The Amy Lynch Investigations Podcast has been uploaded.

Podcast Description:

I’ve learned two things in my life: 1) Few things in this world are as ordinary as they may seem and 2) even insurance can be interesting. This knowledge is what led me to create Amy Lynch. Amy is the brain-child of my late husband and myself. Savvy and sassy, and more than a little bit bold, Amy works as an investigator for New England Casualty & Indemnity. The job takes her to a variety of places – some exotic; some romantic; some seemingly banal, yet full of surprises – all places where I’ve had a few adventures of my own. These podcasts discuss the origins of Amy’s adventures, how they grew out of people and events in my own life, and how much fun I’ve had putting it all together.

The title is: Coming Attractions

Show Notes:

In Coming Attractions, I’ll let you know what else is on the agenda for Amy, and describe a few adventures currently in the works.

Kirkus loves Deep Secrets!

Kirkus has reviewed Deep Secrets, the third installment in the Amy Lynch Investigations. They said: “Norton draws on her experience working in the insurance to good effect in this latest series outing. … (She) manages to make insurance-related details as compelling as evidence collection in a conventional murder mystery. The plot is well-paced, the characters well-drawn … The protagonist’s clear sense of purpose helps her stand up to much larger men (she’s only 4 feet, 11 inches tall) … Her intelligence, determination and compassion help to round out her character. She may be hard-nosed, but she’s not hard-boiled. An entertaining, well-plotted mystery that offers good characterization and unexpected twists and turns.”
Deep Secrets will be available as of August 1.

James A. Cox, Editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Bookwatch, has recently reviewed Dead Drop

James A. Cox, Editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Bookwatch, has recently reviewed Dead Drop, the second book in the Amy Lynch Investigation series. He says: Another riveting read from a true master of the genre, “Dead Drop” showcases P. K. Norton’s genuine flair for narrative driven storytelling with more twists and turns than a carnival roller coaster. While unreservedly recommended for community library Mystery/Suspense collections, it should be noted for the personal reading lists of dedicated mystery buffs that “Dead Drop” is also available in a digital book format (Kindle, $5.95).

August was an interesting month for me. I attended the Cape Cod Writers’ Conference

August was an interesting month for me. I attended the Cape Cod Writers’ Conference, which is always a fun time. My favorite part this year was the class given by the Medical Examiner for the state of Connecticut. I learned some interesting things: 1) You cannot bury a body with a bullet in it. You need to remove all bullets or shrapnel prior to burial. 2) If you shoot somebody, wash your hands asap. That removes enough gun shot residue that it can’t be used as evidence against you. 3) The Medical Examiner may boil body parts in a crockpot in order to examine bones for trauma. 4) Maggots make a sound similar to Rice Krispies. Yikes! 5) At least in Connecticut, policemen need to buy their own bullets. This is a good way to reduce police shootings. I don’t know about other states.
